🎯 READ: What is Student Personally Identifiable Information (SPII)?
Information that, alone or in combination, personally identifies an individual student or the student’s parent or family, and that is collected, maintained, generated, or inferred by a public education entity, either directly or through a school service, or by a School Service Contract Provider (“SSCP” e.g. Infinite Campus) or School Service On-Demand Provider (“SSODP” e.g. Nearpod.
What does that mean? Any Website or program that uses a username and password for a student that personally identifies them. We recommend using fictitious usernames for students with these apps. Student apps need to be approved by the building administrator who will work with Technology and Innovation on approval.
Examples of SPII include: Names, birthdates, addresses, IEP plan, 504 plan, State Assigned Student ID (SASID), Locally Assigned Student ID (LASID), parent or guardian names, or anything that can be used to personally identify a student.
