COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course focuses on high leverage teaching strategies which increase student engagement, and provides ideas to use right away in the classroom. Thoughtful, professional responses in the activities which make it evident you viewed the presentation and reflected upon it are expected. 

There are 3 interactive Nearpod presentations which are approximately 25, 50, and 40 minutes, respectively, in length:

1. Cognitive Load's Affect on Student Engagement for Remote and In-Person Learning
2. Student Engagement with Explicit Instruction
3. Student Engagement with Opportunities to Respond (OTR)

Credit Hours: 1.5 To receive credit, you must register in Performance Matters @ https://hsd2.truenorthlogic.com/ia/empari/learning2/registration/presentRegistrationDetails/51542

Contact Hours: This is a 1.5 credit course offered in Canvas. Since this is offered online at the participant’s own pace as opposed to an in-person 1.5 hour workshop, expect to spend about 1.5-2 hours of time reading and viewing material, and interacting with the activities using critical thinking.

ATTENDANCE: Online courses have deadlines, assignments, and participation requirements. You may take breaks between assignments, however, once you begin the course, you will need to complete it in a reasonable amount of time. Because the course is on-demand and ends May 27, 2022, I will send names for credit when it closes.
